The College Football Playoff, which now drives the entire sport, is ostensibly the reason the Big 12 is going through its latest existential crisis. Dan Wetzel's solution? Channeling his inner Tim Allen:
Unfortunately, seeing as we're already going down this path, he's probably right. If the Big 12 wants to remain a going concern, expanding the postseason would probably assuage Oklahoma's concerns about long-term competitiveness in the conference.
It's also completely antithetical to what made the sport so popular in the first place: tradition and the most compelling regular season on the planet.
