Sooner Signing Day Shenanigans
National Signing Day doesn't look to have many surprises in store for the Sooners, outside of one recruit. And it's a big one.
The Sooners are among the finalists for the services of Louisiana wide receiver Rueben Randle, Rivals.com's number two national recruit. Previously, Randle had scheduled a signing event at his high school in north Louisiana, but reports on Tuesday night had him considering pushing his decision back.
While the Bastrop native has the details of his recruitment pretty close to the vest, Randle's father, Emmett, dropped a bombshell Tuesday, voicing his concern about "depth chart issues" at LSU. Most recruiting observers had pegged the Tigers as the clear leaders for Randle's services, in front of Alabama and OU.
Landing Randle would be a major coup for Bob Stoops and his staff. Not only could Randle provide a major boost right away to OU's depleted receiving corps, but reeling in a stud from the heart of Tiger country just doesn't happen that often.
Trying to predict what high school seniors are going to do is about as inexact of a science as you'll find. Tonight, though, there's reason for Sooner fans to be hopeful about landing the top high school receiver in the country.
