*I really don't get how Virginia Tech can be ranked ahead of Oklahoma State at this point in the season. Have these voters seen the teams' schedules?

*Alabama is the better team, but I'll roll with the Pokes at No. 2 for now, based on body of work. From what I've seen, the SEC doesn't pack the same punch this season that it has in the past.

*Coming into this season, the pointed dialogue about Lane Kiffin always bored me. Frankly, the talk outweighed the actual body of evidence for or against him. He has really impressed me this year, though. Time to admit the guy knows what he's doing.

*If Houston keeps winning, the Cougars deserve serious consideration for a shot at LSU. Yeah, I said it.

*Imagine Baylor at 9-3. Would be the case if the Bears take down the Texas Longhorns this weekend.

*I don't like the idea of ranking Southern Miss any more than you do, but who else do you put in the No. 25 slot at this point?
